Here\u2019s the longer version of working with me\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the last two decades, I have, primarily, the commissioned portrait<\/strong> to thank for my livelihood. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is a job that I have always loved\u2014first with pencils as a child and then uncompressed charcoal as an adolescent.  From age 15 until now \u2014I\u2019ve been using this deliciously, glorious-colored grease called oil paint.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I get to do a job that I love! But something that’s ALSO true?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is HAAAARD. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Still. Yes.\u00a0 After decades of painting, I now SEE more, which means I have to paint more.\u00a0 And the older I get\u2014the heavier my arms feel, and the more my back and feet hurt like never before.\u00a0 (I was a Div I college soccer player\u2014I know body pain!). \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I take what I do very, deeply seriously.\u00a0 I\u2019ve posthumously painted my own little brother, my soulmate hubby, my heart cat, dear friends that have passed, angel children gone too soon.\u00a0 I\u2019ve also painted celebrities in scenes of movies just too visually-tantalizing not to give in to the opportunities. Sometimes I paint people that I find so beautiful I simply have to celebrate their beauty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I work from reference photos.\u00a0<\/strong> With photography, I can capture light doing its ever-changing, miraculous things \u2014and then I get to be a part of those moments that are just mind-blowingly beautiful and equally fleeting. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ll have you message or email me a handful of your favorite photos<\/strong>, and we\u2019ll talk quickly about what makes which of them most paintable.\u00a0 If I\u2019m painting someone no longer Earthside, I will happily choose from the photos that you provide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If it IS an option, a photoshoot could be our best bet.<\/strong>\u00a0 This can be attempted by you, done by a pro, or be shot by me.\u00a0 It will<\/em> add a small fee to the job if I am your photographer. (Around $200)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once we have images to choose from, we will agree on an image and a size AND A PRICE \u2014together<\/strong>.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

*I charge mostly by level of detail, rather than strictly by size.  It comes down to labor intensity.  <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Way over-sized works will be more expensive (canvases that size are more much more expensive, more materials are used, and I\u2019ll need to spend far more hours at the easel).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I do have a 20+ year sale history for most of the subject-matter that I paint, and can make comparable guesses where necessary.\u00a0 I will continue to honor the amazing people that have supported me all these years–and honor you, as well as our subject matter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PORTRAITS OF PEOPLE start at $1500<\/strong>, and go up with detail (like teeth visible, braces, tattoos, paisley shirts, etc).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PORTRAITS OF ANIMALS<\/strong> are roughly $850<\/strong>.\u00a0 BUT!!! I do not charge the same amount for a close-up of a black cat\u2019s face (eyes in a dark void)\u2014as I would for a brindled boxer-dog flexing it’s muscles in the long shadows of golden-hour sunset. I’m very reasonable, and again–I adjust the general price by the level of detail needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

PAYMENT:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

I PREFER TO GET HALF OF THE BALANCE UP FRONT <\/strong>which allows me to go buy materials, and to brainstorm comfortably on your project.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

THEN WHEN THE PAINTING IS DONE, I COLLECT THE BALANCE<\/strong> AND THE SHIPPING AMOUNT (if applicable).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I DO<\/em> OFFER A MONTHLY-PAYMENTS OPTION INSTEAD<\/strong> TO MAKE BUYING ART MORE ACCESSIBLE FOR EVERYONE!!! I mean, time really does fly.\u00a0 If you were paying a bit each month\u2014before you knew it\u2014I\u2019d owe you something amazing.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One last thing in here:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*We can absolutely work out any reasonable scenario you\u2019ve got<\/strong>, and most likely come up with a do-able solution.\u00a0 (Like working beneath the ceiling price of your art budget, just for example—or arranging small monthly payments).\u00a0 I\u2019m super easy to work with(!)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
